Computer Mod/Rasterbator
by admin on Apr.22, 2009, under Random
After breakfast this morning I was feeling bored so I started browsing Bit-Tech and I decided to mod an old motherboard for my kid brother. The motherboard is an of the (antiquated) shelf, an old Epox SLI monster.
I decided to watercool this old thing mainly because the old HSF (heatsink-fan) died and I couldn’t find a quite way to cool it.
SO. following a bunch of pics from an old worklog I built this beautiful thing, an acrylic waterblock.
The whole process took me approximately 4 hours for all the sanding and filing, and don’t even get me started on the scroll saw. Grrrr.
regardless, it holds pressure, and the silicone adhesive should be cured in a week or so. The temperatures should be quite good because I lapped (polished to a shine) the bottom of the water block which is an old piece of copper which had holes in it.
The way I got rid of the holes was to solder them up with rosin core solder (tin) and then sand of the chunks.
I’m pretty happy with the result, and this is only my second scratch built water block, so feast your eyes ![]()

Rasterbator
Today I found a program called Rasterbator, which is essentially a poster printing tool however it doesn’t do the actual printing. You do get a tasty (albeit large) pdf file that you can print onto any kind of paper you wish. I get the best results from a black and white laserjet, however if you have access to a colour laser, go for it (just remember to change the program options for multi-color).
For many of you that live in dorms, with parents, on your own this is a really cheap way to decorate empty wallspace. And considering that my walls have Shawshank Redemption type holes (due to me drilling them without using a stud finder, duh!) I needed a poster to cover it up.
The program can be found at the link above ^^ and it is really easy to use, , I’ve posted my results
I printed the lovely Kagami from Lucky Star.

Welcome to the new Best Free Templates!
The relaunch of this website is a very big step forward from the previous page in the sense that I will be updating this site very frequently.
This website will serve as my personal blog as well as a portal for all my previous work such as Photoshop tutorials, free website templates, fonts, graphics and scripts.
I have recently decided that I will try to be active in the graphic design scene, and I wish to share my free website templates on the internet.
The launch of this new version for the website also celebrates the 100,000th hit in these past several years. I am very very proud of this number and am very ashamed of the fact that I stopped supporting this website.
Please enjoy your stay here and ABSOLUTELY feel free to email me if you wish to affiliate your graphic design website with BestFreeTemplates.net!

First, press D for default color settings.
Make a new document; I made mine 500×500.
Go to Filter>Render>Difference Clouds. Repeat that (by pressing CTRL+F)
Now go to Filter>Artistic>Plastic Wrap
Use these settings:
Highlight Strength: 15
Detail: 10
Smoothness: 10
Then go to Filter>Artistic>Smudge Stick.
Stroke Length: 2
Highlight Area: 0
Intensity: 10
Then Go to Filter>Blur>Radial Blur
Amount: 50
Blur Method: Spin
Quality: Good
Then duplicate your layer twice, so that you have three identical layers.
On one layer, (doesn’t matter which), go to Filter>Distort>Twirl Angle: 200
On another layer, do the same thing; only change the Angle to negative 200.
On all three layers, one at a time, go to Image>Adjust>Hue/Saturation, tick the Colorize box and then adjust the Saturation for brightness of color, and Hue for the color itself.
Be sure to make all three layers different colors, but they should still be close, like yellow-orange-red, or, like I used, blue-purple-pink.
Now use the Dodge tool to make the lighter areas on each layer brighter, and the Burn toll to make the dark bits darker.
Arrange the layers in the order you want them, preferably in rainbow order, and change the mode(via blending options in the layer window) of the top one to Lighten, and the middle one to Overlay, and you’re done.
These are my three layers:
The blue one was the top Lighten layer, the purple the middle Overlay, and the pink was the bottom layer. Here’s the finished piece:
